This is sad. It doesn't make me mad, just disappointed. People who did not even vote for the May 2009 mAT will be getting points? Because people who did vote got screwed? Its nice that you are doing something, but none of it is fair. I got partial points, so I'm not missing out on much. I do, however, know people who had gotten nothing and made extremely good picks for large amounts of points. Since you already screwed people over, why not leave it at that and just say you are TOTALLY screwed instead of rewarding people who did nothing. I'll be happy to get points, don't get me wrong, but the fiasco just makes you look incompetant, and this just makes it look worse (to me at least). Just hope they are learning from their mistakes.... but it doesn't look like they are.

Complain after seeing how many points they will give everyone. For all we know, they could be giving everyone a bunch of RP's, just because of how long everyone had to wait for the announcement. And it isn't like XTH required a lot of work to exploit...

I have to ask then, who was/is lying? You, Regina, or Linsey?
"Update from Linsey Murdock:
Xunlai Tournament House Update
We now have an accurate list of XTH winners from the May monthly predictions and are in the planning stages to distribute those points. We’ll need to deploy some new code to upgrade the system, which requires a bit of delicate timing. Part of this deployment must occur through a build, but some of it will happen automatically on the servers. During this time, if anyone speaks to Kun Shao, it could disrupt the system and garble up the list."

^^ This right here +1. Magma has a very legitimate point, and I'll bet 10 to the dozen that it's gonna bend noses no matter how they do it. It's simply obvious that they don't want to spend any time or money paying a coder to get the numbers right. Not at all hard to set up a temporary database, with the correct numbers, which according to them, they have.
Thoroughly stupid, dumb, moronic move, to tell us that in the first place IMO. Just makes the wet fish colder when the slap comes around.
*Edit* Btw Martin, it's "were" not "where". I think personally, that a game dev should be able to spell. No wonder we have the GW typo's thread, eh?

You might want to re-read Regina's posting, because that point is explained in it.

I'd be happy with some truth. The quote from Linsay is much earlier than the one from Regina or from Martin.
And Martin, the only thing I saw in Regina's post was that DISTRUBUTION was not possible. Knowing what people had was apparently known a long, long time ago according to Linsey. I'm not sure what the problem with Kun Shao's book keeping was if you knew how many points each person had. It wasn't the book keeping that was the problem, it was the distribution.
I understand you are busy people, and I appreciate you taking time to respond to this forum. However, I'd rather have slower responses that were complete and accurate. I also know you can't/won't divulge programming issues involved, but the info you have give us make me see lies. Either clarify the info that is not blatantly obvious, or continue to look like you are lying. Pretend you are talking to an elementary school kid, use plain English and make it simple. Maybe then you can find a way to explain why something we were told long ago is now not true.

Sorry buddy, but BS statement is BS. What else are they going to be working on, or did you think that all they did all day was sit and answer support tickets on xth hacked accounts and anti-farm qq?

You hit the nail on the head right there. The messaging from Linsey occurred earlier than the follow-up messaging in June and July. As you know, game development is a very iterative process, and sometimes there issues that crop up, as we found with XTH. And as our programmers explored deeper into the code base, we found that the only way to fix XTH and accourately distribute those points would have been to create it from scratch again. Unfortunately, this would have involved pulling vital resources away from Guild Wars 2. And as we let you know last summer:- We distributed the May 2009 points in June. Some did not get the accurate number of points. Some did not get points at all.
- Accurate distribution (or re-distribution) of the May 2009 TRPs was dependent upon fixing XTH.
Because we made the decision not to pull resources away from GW2 to fix XTH, this second distribution of the May 2009 TRPs will unfortunately not happen. We're sorry that this is disappointing for you, but we feel that this is the right decision for the company's resources.

Looks quite clear to me tough:

The system isn't there anymore so...

Like I posted on July 1st, the accurate distribution of points was directly linked to us being able to fix the Xunlai Tournament House

Why not just fly out to Washington and demand a meeting with Lindsey, Regina, and Martin. Tell them how you really feel. Seriously...demand a public apology to you about not being fair.
Life isnt fair. Things change. Either you be happy with what you get or you drown in your own wallow.
Everyone lies essentially. Everything changes. What one says one year doesnt mean its going to hold up the next year. Its unrealistic to think that, especially when attacking people like Regina, Lindsey, Gaile, Martin and so forth. THESE PEOPLE WORK FOR A COMPANY. You act like the make the decisions.
They might have influence on decisions, but they are not the sole decision makers......they do what they are asked to do.
Give it a rest already and walk away with what you get. Ya know, I could care less who gets what. Im more than happy to take whatever they give me. If they dont give me anything....SO WHAT>>>>I'll get over it in less 5 seconds.
You its nice to see people get something for free. THanks guys for what you do. I'll appreciate whatever I get. I'll give it to you...Regina, Lindsey Martin, and so forth. You guys must love your job(which is awesome) for work that you do which puts you in the public eye over almost everyone else at ANET. You guys take the brunt force of the negativity from this community. Big Props and much love to you guys.

oh, please, not this way. something that is complete and accurate today may be obsolete or completely false tomorrow. that's how life works, sorry.
i'd rather see ANet employees post much more often even with small news, changing their decisions if there's any need and letting us know why it has changed, than posting here twice a year. i believe that they've made an important step in communication lately, just take a look at the headsup regarding the recent pvp update.
and yes, 'we don't want to take the resources away from gw2, so we'll deal with xth this way' is a valid point from their side. however many of us, players, would argue, it's a way to finally be over with xth. it involves low to none work, so just some small resources, and is possibly shutting the 'xth topic' after a long time.

ok I am going to make an assumption here.....that only accounts that had signed up for the xth will get those points, right? Because I know some people who had not and wouldnt mind getting a few (now) totally FREE keys...
I just want to make it clear (and this would not include accounts that were opened AFTER the xth was closed).....
(yes I didnt get any points....I am just glad they are doing something about it, but this way they are rewarding everyone---still not the correct answer, but I guess its very hard to put humpty-dumpty back together again after their massively huge screwed up on xth).

Hit the nail on the head right there, and to the concerns about it deflating the value of zkeys, it wont be that bad, they'll be gone in a couple of months and zkeys can return to rising again.
but tbh, im happy we're getting anything at all... now lets just hope that the amount of zkeys is a just amount... cuz i know all of my accounts should have had at least 100-150 RPs for that month...

However, ArenaNet and all their excuses (for everything, not only the XTH) just makes me laugh these days.

Plus.. you gotta factor in how many people don't even know or care that they ARE getting reimbursed anymore, or the people who were banned or quit in that long stretch of time (a LOT of people were hacked too...), and the people who will take it and blow it instantly because they are either greedy - or just very hyper with anything, the already fantasy idea of it deflating z-keys is even that much more diluted when you put it into perspective.
But.. then there the ones who will sell their z-keys..and lots of those people exist.
I think I'll keep mine for a while, wait till it falls down again and sell when they fall back into the sweet spot.
